the engine.

All Defenders come with their original stock engine included.

We have options if you’d like an engine swap with your order. To pass the smog requirement and operate within certain US states (such as California), a swap to a new V8 gas engine is required.

ENGINE TYPES

  • 300 TDi - Turbo Diesel

The Land Rover 300Tdi engine was an evolution upon the earlier 200Tdi with many improvements and refinements for better on-road performance. The 300Tdi was noticeably smoother and quieter than the 200Tdi, and the power and torque outputs remained the same as its predecessor - the 200TDi.

  • 3.5L - V8 GAS

The Rover V8 engine is a compact V8 internal combustion engine with an aluminum cylinder block and cylinder heads, originally designed by General Motors and later re-designed and produced by Rover in the United Kingdom. It has been used in a wide range of vehicles from Rover and other manufacturers since its British debut in 1967.

  • LS CONVERSION

"LS engine" is the colloquial name given to the 3rd and 4th generation small-block V-8 gasoline engine used in General Motors' vehicles. LS engines were a clean sheet modular design. In a car engine, LS stands for luxury sport, meaning it is majorly used in high-end cars that offer great performance like the Chevrolet.

  • 4BT CUMMINS DIESEL

The 3.9L 4BT Cummins is a diesel turbocharged engine that utilizes an inline 4-cylinder design. The acronym, 4BT, means four-cylinder, “B” series turbocharged. The 4BT Cummins Engine was way ahead of its time when it was released in the ’80s. It uses direct fuel injection, turbocharging, and an inline-4 design to provide impressive performance specs and fuel efficiency in a tiny package.
